a wonderful weekend full of blessings

This week and weekend have been wonderful. As you know Wednesday brought the adoption of Kenna. This made Kenna a part of our family legally, but also then this weekend all sort of wonderful happened.

Friday — My parents came into town, which was nice hadn't seen them since my Grandmothers funeral back in October. It was nice to get together under better circumstances. We all turned in early as we had a BIG day Saturday.

Saturday — The day started early for the Weekend. We arose at 5:00 to get ourselves ready. My Parents soon arrived again- they stayed at the Erskine's while they were in Town. At 6:00 am Lindsay Debbie Tennet and I headed to Louisville. Mom and Dad stayed behind in Cincinnati for a couple of hours with the grandkids - they didn't need to be there for a couple of hours after us.

My folks, Barb and Dale Erskine, and Andy and Corrie Scheidegger came down and joined us for Kenna's Sealing. The sealing was really special. Knowing that through the proper authority from God our family can be sealed together forever as a family unit. In our Religion everything is dependent upon the family. To see our Son and Daughter both dressed in white was great. Kenna especially dressed in her white dress was — all I can say is that she was very pretty.

Lindsay's Mom and Dad came into town and we joined up with them much later in the night after our branches Christmas Party. It was really nice to have them come in town after a very busy week for them. They came in for Kenna's blessing on Sunday.

Sunday — Sunday also had its excitement. Kenna was, as our church dictates, brought "unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name." (D&C 20:70). Kenna received her blessing and name she'll be know as on Church records. This was a very special time as we had friends and family join us during this very special time.

We owe so much to our friends and family who joined with us this weekend to participate in these very important events for Kenna. Thank you.

its official

It is my pleasure to announce that as of 2:43:54 on Wednesday December the 5th 2007, Lindsay and I are the proud LEGAL parents of Kenna Allie Mae Wyatt. This day is something we have been looking forward to for years.

The day started as any normal Wednesday I woke up got ready for work, and went to work. Only today I went in for a few hours. EXAIR graciously allowed me to leave early today. I came home and helped get Ayden and Kenna -the lady of the day- ready to go. After loading them up we were off, before we even hit the free-way both were asleep. After arriving downtown at the courthouse we unloaded the kiddies Kenna woke up immediately Ayden decided to stay asleep. We quickly made our way up to the ninth floor of the William Howard Taft building. Once there we checked in and then proceeded to go to the tenth floor into Courtroom C. Adoption cases in Hamilton County are overseen by Magistrates, ours was a gentleman by the name of Kendal M. Coes. Originally we were going to have the same magistrate that he had for Ayden but at the last minute it was switched, This turned out nicely I believe. We were the first one other than the magistrate in the courtroom soon we were joined by many of the people who helped us along the way. We had Kenna's caseworkers, our adoption support worker, our foster care support worker and Kenna's Guardian ad litem. It was really nice to have all these people go out of their way to come and support us.

Now that the legal aspect is done it's time for the temple and her blessing.

todays the day

Finally the day has come. This morning Lindsay and I woke up to a couple inches of snow. A beautiful way to start a day for a wonderful event. Kenna is getting adopted today. While the actual adoption is still a few hours away the feeling of excitement is still there. It really seams like yesterday that we were able to finalize Ayden's adoption. the funny thing about the adoption is that this is just the legal aspect. Lindsay and I felt she was a permeant member of the family long ago. I figured I give a run down of her name as several people have asked where we came up with Kenna Allie Mae Wyatt.

Kenna — Kenna is because of me, and my side of the family. Kenna is the name of a wonderful friend of our family. She and my Father met I long ago (actually doesn't seam like that long) when they worked for Que, a book publisher. Then latter my dad worked with her again in California, when they worked with Osborn McGraw-Hill in there computer book publisher division. She has always been a kind and open to my brothers and I. To me she has always been an example that a woman can be strong independent successful and well educated. All qualities that any father would want for his daughter.

Allie — Allie comes from Lindsay's Grand Mother's Name. I never got the chance to meet her. Every-time lindsay talks about her you can hear the love she showed to her family. I think that is where the name at least for me fits for Kenna. You look at her and cannot help but feel love for her.

Mae — Mae is actually a double dip name. It is both of our mothers middle names. It's one of those weird coincidences life throws at you. The choice was simple. Lindsay and I decided long ago that we wanted our kids to have part of there names be family names. Names we felt would honored those that we cared about. That is why Ayden has Allen Colin as his middle names (named after our fathers), and that is why Kenna has Mae.

Wyatt — Well thats our families last name - duh.

arose such a clatter

We'll as you know we put our tree up this week end all was good and dandy. The tree with its decorations; ornaments, lights nicknacks and so forth. We even purchased a position-able fence and positioned it so the kiddies can't get to the tree. Tree goes up Saturday - Late Saturday, but Saturday non the less - no problems. Sunday Kids love the tree, they sit there and love the lights. Go to bed everything good. 5:30 - 6:00 am this morning. laying in bed awaiting the dreadful alarm clock and then it happens a large crash. Lindsay and I get up to see what happened and there it was. Our tree decided it wanted to sleep as well I guess. With ornaments and pine needles everywhere we rubbed our eyes and began "redecorating" the tree and picking up the debris. It took a little bit of work to get the tree back in the stand and all. We also had tiny ornament hooks to look for, as they fell off of the ornaments upon hitting the fence, and all sorts of mess. The good news though our fence thing held up, it actually stopped the tree from hitting the ground. Make sure your tree is positioned good and secure so you and yours don't have to hear any loud crash during the night.

trim the tree

Tis the Season, Deck the Halls, and Trim the Tree. Now that December has finally come its time to get "ready" for Christmas. This time of year I really have to give it to my wife. Lindsay is one of the people who gets into the Christmas Spirit early if she could - or had her way - the tree would be up at the end of the day on Thanksgiving. I on the other hand have no problem waiting. I guess I'm one of those that feels the there should be a little lag time or delay between those two holidays. So in the past Lindsay has graciously waited while anxiously awaiting the time we can get a tree. This year though with the little ones and family soon coming to town we agreed that we would go green. So yesterday (saturday) with kiddies in tow we headed out and soon acquired our tree.

Since the kids are really interested in providing help we made the choice of waiting for them to go to bed @ 8. Once in bed the we began the process of moving furniture digging out christmas decorations. Upon completion the tree looked great and the "spirit" of the season was starting to be felt - all due to Linny. During our decorating I sorta got out of the spirit frequently. Hopefully I can get myself in line and enjoy the holiday with my family and friends. I encourage all of us to keep the purpose of the season in mind as we approach Christmas. So to you and your enjoy the season of what ever you might celebrate.

a few small steps

Watching our kiddies grow is a great experience. This last week Kenna has really started to sprout. Pulling her self up and even standing herself up with out the help of any thing else. When Ayden was a little younger and going through these steps we purchased a walker to wagon thing from Fischer Price. He loved it still does in fact. Now that Kenna is at this stage were pushing her to use, and just like her big brother she loves it. The only problem we have now is that if Ayden sees her playing with it he wants to play with it and takes it away. So this morning while kenna was awake and brother slept in we let her play with it.

a special day is coming...

As this year is quickly coming to a close I often look back and determine if the year has been good to me and mine or not. While I am not as seasoned as some I have still had many good years. Each filled with special occurrences, events and memorable times. Since being out on my own I have had a few stand out years. Looking back those include:

1998 - This was indeed a very good year for me. This is the year I graduated from High School in Sundance Wyoming a small town in North East Wyoming. Shortly after graduating I Was married to my wife Lindsay. It was rather sudden, and I'm sure a surprise for many. We were lucky enough to be able to have my father perform the ceremony. which was great and something that not a lot of people can say. This is easily my best year. I could not and would not have what I have in my life today if my wife was not there beside me.

2001 - While for many 2001 was an unfortunately a sad time. I honestly look back and see it as a great year. The year marked our third anniversary in May. Lindsay and I not having the opportunity before to be married in the temple, finally made our way. We went to Palmyra accompanied by Lindsay's Father Colin and my parents Allen and Debbie as well as my younger brother Andrew. Andrew and Colin waited for us outside and my parents escorted us through the temple. There we were sealed as Husband and Wife for all time and eternity.

This brings us to 2007.

This year still has a few weeks  and Christmas is still roughly a month away, but  has already brought us so much. Late 2006 after years of waiting we were finally blessed with a son Ayden. In April of 2007 Ayden was legally adopted. And then in May we traveled to Columbus and with Family and Friends present we were able to have Ayden sealed for all time to our family. It was a marvelous opportunity to be able to share that with our family and friends, who then joined us the next day at Church to witness his blessing.

Now we have the chance to do it once again. Our little Girl Kenna, is going to be legally adopted this coming up week. And then our loved ones will join us again at the temple, this time in Kentucky, for our sealing to to Kenna. And then her blessing the next day at our church.

This really has been a great year. Behind marrying and being sealed to my wife the events of this year will truly and forever be remembered as the best days of my life. I look forward with excitement at what is yet to take place.
